Research and Technical Experience
Fall 2015 Protest Campaigns in Social Media, Advisor : Professor Peter Dodds.
Applied machine learning, natural language processing, and network analysis techniques in Python
to study over 7 million tweets surrounding the protest hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
Fall 2015 Modeling Complex Systems, Teacher : Professor Margaret Eppstein.
Fully implemented several models of complex systems in MATLAB through the use of networks,
cellular autonoma, swarms, differential equations, and L-systems.
Fall 2014 Analysis of Financial Time Series, Advisor : Professor Nalini Ravishanker.
Developed and implemented a stochastic conditional duration state-space model in R to analyze
financial duration data from IBM.
Summer 2014 Polygon Curvature Flow, Advisor : Dr. Andrew Cooper.
Researched geometric flows with 2 fellow undergradutes to develop a discrete analog to the curveshortening flow. Presented results at the Joint Mathematics Meeting 2015 and was awarded an
Outstanding Presentaiton Award (top 15%).
Interpersonal Experience
Aug 2015–Present Graduate Assistant, The University of Vermont, Burlington, VT.
Teach a survey course of statistics, graph theory, and other topics to 30 undergraduates through 2.5
hours of lecture each week. Handle all course administration, such as preparing course materials,
delegating grades, and holding 3 hours of office hours each week.
Jan 2015–May2015 Supplemental Instruction Leader, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT.
Led weekly supplemental review and practice sessions to students taking Calculus II, a course in
which underrepresented students disproportionately fail. Attended all lectures to help personalize
review sessiona and identify where students were struggling with the course material.
Jan 2015–May2015 UConn Connects Master Coach, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT.
Worked as a master coach pair to provide support to 8 new UConnn Connects facilitators through
weekly meetings that developed their mentoring capabilities. Collaborated with the master coach
cohort to design weekly lesson plans to address topics such as cultural competency, motivational
interviewing, and choice theory.
Aug 2014–Jan 2015 UConn Connects Facilitator, University of Connecticut, Storrs, CT.
Met individually with 3 students on academic probation each week to help them grow both
academically and personally. Developed their time management, study skills, and goal setting
through close communication throughout the semester.
