Karen Gallinari, JD is now CoChair of the Biobank Working
Group of the CTSA Clinical
Research Ethics Group.
20th Annual Young
Investigators Symposium to
be held at Moses Campus
The 2013 Young Investigators
Research Symposium will be
held on April 5th, 8am-4pm, at
the Cherkasky Auditorium on
the West Campus. Sponsored by
the Office of Research and
Sponsored Programs of MMC,
twenty-five junior investigators
will present their research at the
symposium, representing twelve
different clinical departments.
Awards for Research Excellence
will be presented to first place,
three-second place, and fourthird place investigators.
One-stop-shop to help you
navigate resources
Translational research can be a
complex enterprise, since any
one project involves multiple
team members, scientific
expertise, and resources. The
ICTR’s “Project Acceleration
Resource” (PAR) helps
coordinate ICTR and EinsteinMontefiore resources, and can
assist to streamline and enhance
project implementation by
integrating expertise and by
facilitating efficient access to
resources. PAR will also provide
budget development and grant
application support for junior
investigators, and
comprehensive planning support
for development of multifunction program grants.
The PAR is a “one-stop-shop”
that includes administrative and
faculty personnel representing
all ICTR functions.
Contact the PAR team by phone

New Research Opportunities: Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering
Treatment to Prevent Heart Attack Trial (ALLHAT)
ALLHAT was the largest antihypertensive treatment trial and the second
largest lipid-lowering trial ever conducted, collecting data from 1994-2002.
The trial benefited from a randomized active phase of 5 years, long-term
follow-up, large sample size, varied geographic regions, patient diversity,
drug comparisons, and the large number of variables. The data, previously
restricted to ALLHAT investigators, is now available to the wider scientific
community, encouraging new research, especially for junior investigators
and CTSA institutions. For more information on accessing ALLHAT data,
