Toronto’s own Narendra Datar presents a
lecture demonstration on the modal and
rhythmic structures of North Indian classical
music, followed by a performance of classical, semi-classical, and devotional pieces.
Narendra Datar began his formal musical
training at the age of sixteen under Agra
gharana vocalist Pandit Vasantrao Kulkarni.
Since 1986, he has been active in Toronto
as a teacher, performer, and composer. He
is a recipient of the Shastri Indo-Canadian
Institute Senior Performing Arts Fellowship.
This event is part of Sarang: A Series of
South Asian Performing Arts.
MiST is located in the CCT building in room
CC0150. Parking is available in the CCT
parking garage.
