Abstract
The objective of this paper was to examine the ethical, legal and social implications of HIV/AIDS diagnosis for women. Once the
HIV test is made, there are two kinds of moral implications, namely, the implication from the reception of the test results, and the
responsibility of the medical staff in charge of informing the patient. The lack of gender equity derived from the traditional
machismo in the society brings greater social vulnerability for the women in terms of catching the HIV virus, and once they get
infected, they suffer numerous disease - related stigmas. The HIV/AIDS infection in women has proven ethical legal and social
implications that have unfavorable impact on the society. It seems that a long distance remains to be covered until a woman with
this health condition can reach and exercise all the due legal and social rights.
