Be able to discuss: landscape development in each of the regions covered; the importance and use of water; the relationship of terrain to cultural development; influence of historical circumstances on landscape; the role of the transcontinental railroad in the settling of the West; major physical processes and their influence on landscape and land use; and the role of people’s perception of an area and the resultant land use.
