1. Cambodian National Statistical System

The Cambodian national statistical system is a
decentralize system which covers all designated official
statistics and statistical units within ministries and
government institutions. In addition to the National
Institute of Statistics (NIS), each ministry and other
government institution have a statistics unit responsible
for producing statistics. Various ministries and other
institutions collect and produce statistics as part of their
work. The system consists of NIS and 27 line ministries,
government institutions and National Bank of Cambodia,
all producers of designated official statistics.

National Institute of Statistics (NIS), by
Statistics law and Subdecree: The National
Institute of Statistics is the official statistical
policy-making body of the Royal Government in
establishing and leading an integrated national
statistical system which covers all designated
official statistics of ministries, government
institutions and the statistical units of provinces.

unemployment, underemployment, hour work, employment in
informal and formal sector... LFS conducted in 1995, 1999, 2001 in
Phnom Penh capital funded by ADB. National LFS conducted in 2013

3. ESCAP RPES Project
In 2015, the NIS requested ESCAP to support the strengthening economic
statistics production and dissemination in Cambodia, and agreed to implement
a Project which have the following Objectives:
1. Provide diagnostics on the state of the institutional and organizational
setting, statistical infrastructure for economic statistics;
2. Provide diagnostics on economic statistics production and dissemination
processes of the national statistical system with a focus on the quality of
resulting statistical outputs;
3. Provide recommendations and identify priorities for improving economic
statistics production and dissemination; and
4. Provide technical assistance in the area of economic statistics based on the
outcome of the assessment (longer term).
