As grandes áreas da
oceanografia
A Oceanografia se divide em quatro
grandes áreas, a saber: Oceanografia
Física, Oceanografia Biológica,
Oceanografia Química e Oceanografia
Geológica. Existem revistas que
publicam trabalhos destas quatro áreas,
porém algumas revistas especializadas
publicam trabalhos da área específica.


Atualmente, o site da Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo
- FAPESP, através do link: Programa Biblioteca Eletrônica - ProBE,
disponibiliza artigos de periódicos científicos internacionais, para os Institutos
de Pesquisas e Universidades consorciados do estado de São Paulo, com vistas
a contribuir para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa. Revistas das editoras Elsevier
(praticamente todas), da Academic Press (IDEAL) e Blackwell’s Science,
Blackwell’s Publisher e MIT Press (EBSCO) são disponibilizadas neste site.
Portanto, pesquisadores e alunos destes institutos e universidades consorciados
podem acessar este site livremente.
Site CAPES
O site da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
– CAPES, através do Portal.periódicos oferece acesso aos textos
completos de artigos de mais de 2000 revistas internacionais, nacionais e
estrangeiras, e a treze bases de dados com referências e resumos de
documentos em todas as áreas do conhecimento. Inclui também
indicações de importantes fontes de informação com acesso gratuito na
Internet.
Professores, pesquisadores, alunos e funcionários de 97 instituições de
ensino superior e de pesquisa em todo o País têm acesso imediato à
produção científica mundial atualizada através deste serviço oferecido
pela CAPES.
O uso do Portal é livre e gratuito. O acesso é feito a partir de qualquer
terminal ligado à Internet através das instituições participantes.
Todos os programas de pós-graduação, de pesquisa e de graduação do País
ganham em qualidade, produtividade e competitividade com a utilização
do Portal que está em permanente desenvolvimento.
As 97 instituições participantes foram selecionadas considerando-se a missão
da CAPES de promover a elevação da qualidade do ensino superior através do
fomento à pós-graduação. Assim, as instituições incluídas nas categorias abaixo
têm acesso ao Portal.periodicos.:
•Instituições federais de ensino superior,
•Instituições de pesquisa com pós-graduação avaliada pela CAPES,
•Instituições públicas de ensino superior estaduais e municipais com pósgraduação avaliada pela CAPES; e
•Instituições privadas de ensino superior com pelo menos um doutorado com
avaliação 5 (cinco) ou superior pela CAPES.

Normas para Uso das Publicações Eletrônicas disponíveis no Portal.periódicos,
estão anexas à Portaria CAPES No. 34, de 24/07/2001, que regulamenta o
Programa de Apoio à Aquisição de Periódicos (PAAP).
Deve-se ressaltar que revistas disponibilizadas pelo site FAPESP
também o são pelo site CAPES.
Sistema COMUT do IBICT
O Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia - IBICT
disponibiliza através do sistema COMUT, para bibliotecas cadastradas, cópias
de artigos científicos publicados por revistas especializadas. Este sistema
funciona da seguinte forma: o pesquisador/aluno requer junto à biblioteca da
sua instituição o artigo de seu interesse. A bibliotecária faz um levantamento
das bibliotecas onde existe o tal artigo e contata a mesma. A disponibilização
do documento é feita de duas maneiras: a)o artigo é enviado para a biblioteca
através do correio normal, o que pode demorar alguns dias; ou b)o artigo é
“escaneado” e enviada via fax ou internet, pelo sistema Ariel. Em alguns casos
existem as duas formas de disponibilização, em outros casos o artigo é
somente enviado pelo correio normal.

Os pesquisadores da área de oceanografia dispõe ainda de alguns sites como:
www.ioc.unesco.org/oceanportal, www.ocean.us.net e www.noaa.gov/
etc, que além de artigos publicados em revistas especializadas trazem outras
informações importantes na área. Nestes sites são disponibilizadas bases de
dados, informações sobre profissionais da área, eventos, cruzeiros
oceanográficos, projetos de pesquisas etc. O acesso a estes sites é livre,
sendo que para www.ocean.us.net é necessário obter um login e um
password.
