Metodologia
A Simulação Social (SS) é apropriada quando um
fenómeno não está diretamente acessível. A
complexidade pode ser de tal forma que o
investigador não pode abarcar os elementos
relevantes do fenómeno.
  A SS baseia-se num modelo que é mais observável
do que o fenómeno alvo. As perguntas que se
pretendem responder deixam de ser “o que
aconteceu?” e “o que poderá ter acontecido?”, e
deixam de ter um caráter puramente descritivo
para adquirir um caráter prescritivo.


Metodologia
Uma nova metodologia de investigação pode ser
sintetizada e designada como “simulação
exploratória”.
  O caráter prescritivo (exploração) não poder ser
resumido simplisticamente a uma optimização,
tal como o caráter descritivo não se resume a
uma simples reprodução dos fenómenos sociais
reais, mas sim à descoberta das suas razões mais
profundas.

