JIM RAMSAY, PH.D., M.A., CSP Professor of Security Studies Program Coordinator, B.S. in Homeland Security University of New Hampshire Durham, New Hampshire Dr. Jim Ramsay is currently Professor of Security Studies, and the Program Coordinator of the B.S. in Homeland Security at the University of New Hampshire, where he teaches environmental security; strategic planning and decision making; emergency management; exercise design and evaluation; and terrorism: origins and ideologies. He also directs the internship program and the senior capstone consulting project. Dr. Ramsay has almost 20 years of experience in public health, emergency management, and environmental health. He was previously at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida, where he founded the Homeland Security program and later was the founding chair of the Department of Security Studies and International Affairs. Dr. Ramsay recently served for 4 years on the Board of Scientific Counselors to the Director of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after being appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Dr. Ramsay also serves on the Board of Directors/Delegates for ABET, Inc. In addition, he serves on the Education Standards Committees for both the International Association for Intelligence Education and the American Society of Safety Engineers, where he also chairs the committee. Dr. Ramsay has been a frequent scientific reviewer for the National Occupational Research Agenda and currently serves on the editorial review boards for Homeland Security Affairs, the Journal of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Journal of Homeland Security Education; and the Journal of Human Security and Resilience. He also is co-founder and current president of the International Society for Preparedness, Resilience and Security (INSPRS.org). Dr. Ramsay has served as a subject matter expert and consulted on a wide range of health, emergency management planning and evaluation issues as well as occupational safety and environmental health. He has recently published Introduction to Homeland Security and Critical Issues in Homeland Security: A Casebook, both through Westfield Publications (Boulder, Colorado). In addition, he expects to complete his third text tentatively entitled Foundations of Environmental Security: Integrating Resilience into National Security by spring 2017, published by the American Meteorological Society.
