Fairbanks, Alaska—Pesticide applicators may work toward renewing their certification
during a March 14 conference in Anchorage.
The Alaska Certified Pesticide Applicator Conference will take place from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. at the Coast International Inn. Pesticide applicators must be certified by the Alaska
Department of Environmental Conservation. The state requires certification for anyone who
acts as a pesticide consultant or engages in the commercial or contract use of a pesticide.
Presentations will cover controlling and identifying pantry pests, insect growth
management, greenhouse pests and controls, label reading, bedbugs and more.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will host the annual
conference in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Conservation. Participants
receive six continuing education units toward their recertification.
A $50 fee includes lunch. See the agenda and registration options at
www.uaf.edu/ces/ah/psep/news. For more information, contact Extension research technician
Janice Chumley at 907-262-5824 or [email protected].
