Running a Wide Range of Titrations Efficiently
The range of foods produced by Ourhome includes both own branded and OEM products. Hence, quality testing is extremely important. Ourhome produces a wide variety of food types including bakery products, rice
based meals and Korean Kim-chi, soya and chili based sauces, fast foods, restaurant food supplies and many
more. This demands a variety of different titration analyses as well as pH testing.

pH and chloride levels are tested in the majority of products but some specific analyses
include acid and peroxide values in foods
containing oils / fats, amino nitrogen levels
in protein rich fermented products and acid
value in other fermented foods like the Korean Kim-chi.
Optimizing Testing
The central R&D facility receives samples from all of the plants around Korea,
amounting to around 400 samples a month
spread across 10 analyses. The R&D centre
based QC lab tests, certifies the samples and
confirms the results to each plant.
Due to the expansion of Ourhome the workload has significantly increased for the QC
lab and therefore a solution was needed
which could reduce the workload whilst retaining control of the testing, analyses and
methods used.
The company decided to look at investing
in quality testing at its various plants to
speed up the system, save transport cost
and reduce the volume of samples at central QC but were concerned about staff
familiarity and training at the factory
sites as well as identically replicating the
analyses for each location.
The Excellence Titrator range has the
ability to give each user unique access
rights. Each user will additionally have
their own Home Screen which contains
One Click™ Short Cut keys for the analyses that the user performs regularly – user
rights can be limited to sole access to their
Home Screen. The solution to Ourhome’s
transfer of testing from the QC lab to the
factories lay in a number of areas:

After a demonstration, Ms. Kim Hye-Young,
QC manager of Ourhome, remarked on the
One Click™ concept for users, the unique
design and small footprint of the Excellence
Titrator and agreed the purchase of a T50
with additional dosing unit, four burettes
and a range of sensors for the various applications.
Local Support Counts
Ourhome are constantly developing new
products and so acknowledge the need
to be able to respond with methods and
applications in order to analyze new formulations. In this respect, the back up
support of application chemists within
METTLER TOLEDO is very important –
coupled with the regular training courses
supplied by METTLER TOLEDO Korea
with their ‘Titration School’ which means
new associates or those in the factories
can be quickly trained.

over the next year to each plant especially
