Preventive Medication List for CDHP 2016 If you are enrolled in the Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP), your prescription drug benefits are integrated with the CDHP medical benefits. You must first pay for all your medical and prescription drug expenses yourself until your cost reaches the deductible limit. However, you can receive certain preventive drugs without having to meet the deductible. For these preventive drugs, you pay copays instead. Sometimes this is referred to as “bypassing” the deductible. Preventive medications can help people avoid many illnesses and conditions. The medications are categorized based on the medical conditions (therapeutic class) that they are used to prevent. This list of therapeutic classes does not guarantee benefit coverage for a particular medication. Coverage prior to the deductible being met may not be provided for every dosage and/or form of the medication. If you have questions about a specific drug prescribed by your doctor, please call OptumRx at (877) 629-3117 for assistance. The following list provides the therapeutic classes for prescription drugs which are considered preventive and are not subject to the CDHP deductible. list Preventive Prescription Drugs by Therapeutic Class for CDHP Members: • • • • • • • • • • • • • Anticoagulants Antihypertensive Agents (High Blood Pressure) Asthma Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Cholesterol Lowering Agents Diabetes Heart Disease Hepatitis C Immunosuppressant Agents Mental Health/Substance Abuse Agents Prenatal Vitamins Thyroid Disease Osteoporosis
