E. Contains rich farming areas
including the Skagit River
Valley.

A. Cascade Mountains located in region.
B. Mountains are a barrier to commerce and travel.
C. Mountains divide WA into two distinct areas.

Columbia Plateau
A. High, flat area extends all the way into Oregon and
Idaho.
B. Contains some of the driest land in the Pacific
Northwest.
C. Includes the wheat growing area called the Palouse
and the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project
D. Crops grown there include apples, cherries, corn.
E. Spokane is the commercial center of the region.
