Clinical Pharmacy Specialist: Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship Application Deadline 9/30/12 Salary Based on Experience Position Type Clinical Pharmacy Practitioner Position Description Description: The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship will serve as a member of the clinical pharmacy team and leader in the antimicrobial stewardship program. Team members consist of physicians, clinical pharmacy specialists, clinical staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for: - Assessing patient information - Attendance and involvement in multi-disciplinary rounds - Medication safety - Responding to drug information questions - Review and response to opportunities identified by the Targeted Drug List - Medication Use Evaluation - Kinetics - Resident and student rotation teaching - Institutional Review Board protocol review Administrative tasks: - Policy and procedure development and review - Guideline development and review Committee Membership: - Infection Control Committee - University Hospital - Antiinfective Subcommittee - UC Health - Drug Policy Development Committee - UC Health Core Measure Involvement: - Immunization screening Patient Safety Initiatives: - Education and inservices - Incident and adverse drug reaction reporting Medication Use Evaluations: Coordinate all active antiinfective MUEs: - Antifungal - Gram positive agents Project Involvement: Initiating and conducting research projects within area of expertise - Preceptor for pharmacy practice resident projects Residency Education Involvement: - Preceptor for infectious disease rotation for pharmacy practice and specialty residents - Topic and patient discussions - Journal clubs - Assistance with research project - Assistance with pharmacy grand rounds Other Involvement: - Infectious disease–related IRB protocol review - Teaching responsibilities at The University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy - Teaching responsibilities for the medical staff (fellows, residents, nurses, students) Job Requirements: Experience: 1. PGY2 pharmacy residency or fellowship, with specialty in infectious disease and antimicrobial stewardship programs, or 2. Equivalent experience in a practice setting (5 years) Licensure: 1.
