Program Diversity
The Master of Library Science (MLS) Program is a completely online
program composed predominately of non-traditional students. The
students geographically span predominately rural areas in several states
and countries while encompassing a variety of educational /
professional backgrounds from accounting to zoology. The average age
of the student is 37 years old; they usually have a family, work fulltime;
have been out of the higher education setting for approximately fifteen
years or more; have DSL or less Internet access speed; and live two plus
hours away from Greenville, North Carolina. Thus, the MLS online
program is the only option available to these students to meet their
scheduling and access needs.
