INDIAN EMPIRES
• 326 BC- Alexander conquers Northwest India but
leaves soon after.
• In the kingdom of Maghada, Chandragupta Maurya
kills the Nanda king and claims the throne.
• Chandragupta begins battling Seleucus I and
defeats him. Who was Seleucus?
• Chandragupta had a huge army that he paid for
with high taxes. He conquered nearly all of India.
• Chadragupta’s son rules for 32 years and is
followed by his son Asoka who takes the empire to its
greatest heights.
• Asoka becomes a Buddhist

• After his death, empire falls apart
• AD 320 Chandra Gupta emerges and begins
