Michael Gerety, Code Red, Popular Music
Michael Gerety is an Inland Northwest based
guitarist, composer, and educator. Born and raised in
Spokane, Washington, Michael holds a Master of
Music Degree in Composition from the University of
Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music and a
Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition from
Eastern Washington University.
As a performer, Michael specializes in jazz and
popular music, and can be seen performing with
multiple ensembles around the Northwest. As a
composer, Michael writes for groups ranging from
large and small jazz ensembles, chamber groups,
athletic bands and more.

Gerety’s compositions have been played by
professional, college, and high school ensembles in
Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana.
Prior to his time at Eastern Washington University,
he served on the faculty at the University of Idaho
Lionel Hampton School of Music as a lecturer in
music theory and composition.
