Study And Analysis of the Effects of Fiber Dispersion and NonLinearity on High bit rate Transmission of Optical Fiber
Communication System
Khalid Khalaf AL Rumhi
Abstract
In this report, the effect of two main fiber optic limitations on high bit rate for 10 Gbps and 40
Gbps transmission of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Network Systems is
investigated. These are Dispersion and Nonlinearities which include chromatic dispersion, Self
Phase Modulation (SPM), Cross Phase Modulation (XPM) and Four Wave Mixing (FWM).
Different network layouts have been simulated to investigate them, and the results are analyzed
and discussed to optimize data transmission
