The earth is warming
What is global warming and
how it works?
Global Warming: Global warming is the
increase in the average temperature of the
earth’s near-surface air and oceans in recent
decades and its protected continuation.
Proofs of Global Warming
• the accelerating melt of polar ice, glaciers (冰
河)and snow.
This is the most obvious evidence of global
warming.
• Rising sea level
 The warmer temperatures have raised sea
level by expanding ocean water, melting
mountain glaciers.
Globally, sea level has risen approximately
15-20 cm over the past century.
During the entire 20th century, the average
global temperature increased by 0.6 degrees
Celsius.
Using computer climate models, scientists
estimate that global by the year 2100 the
average global temperature will increase by
1.4 degrees to 5.8 degrees Celsius.
The cause of global warming
Global warming is associated with
greenhouse effect closely.
Greenhouse effect is a natural
phenomena .greenhouse effect often
gets a bad name because of its
association with global warming,but
the truth is we couldn’t live without it.
What is greenhouse effect?
Greenhouse gases especially carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere can warm
the earth by trapping heat energy.
The greenhouse effect is a natural
phenomenon,which is important.
Without the greenhouse effect, the
Earth would not be warm enough for
humans to live.
Enhanced greenhouse effect
When human activities distort and accelerate
the natural process by creating more
greenhouse gases , the atmospheric
concentration of greenhouse gases
increases, if there is too much of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere ,the
greenhouse effect would become stronger,
which is called “enhanced greenhouse
effect”. And with greenhouse effect being
enhanced, the earth would be warmer than
usual.
Carbob dioxide are the biggest
problem

gases from human activities

If emission of carbon dioxide continue to
grow at current rate ,then the level of
the gas in the atmosphere will likely
double,or possibly triple, from preindustrial levels during the 21st century.
2. How do humans contribute to the effect of
global warming?
Burning natural gas, coal, and oil
Deforestation
Many factories produce longlasting industrial gases
Population growth
Burning fossil fuel
Burning fossil
fuels releases
the carbon
dioxide stored
millions of
years ago.
Most of the
increased
carbon dioxide
comes from
fossil fuels
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas)
Deforestation
Deforestation
releases the
carbon stored in
trees. Less trees
also means less
carbon dioxide
can be removed
from the
atmosphere
Industries emissions
Many factories produce
long-lasting industrial
gases that do not occur
naturally, yet contribute
Significantly to the
enhanced greenhouse
effect
And global warming that is
currently under way.
Population Growth
Population growth is
another factor in global
warming, because as more
people use fossil fuels for
heat, transportation and
manufacturing the level of
greenhouse gases
continues to increase. As
more farming occurs to
feed millions of new people,
more greenhouse gases
enter the atmosphere.
3. Impact of global warming.
• Glacier thaw and rising sea level
• More frequent happens of natural
disasters
• Affecting human beings
Glacier thaw

Wildlife Effects
• Polar Bears
 Require pack ice to live
 Might eventually go extinct in the wild
• Sea turtles
 Breed on the same islands as
their birth
 Could go extinct on some islands
as beaches are flooded
• Other species may go extinct as rainfall
patterns change throughout the world
Effect on Humans
• Global warming is a danger to a human's
health. Its affect on climate can adversely
affect humans.
• Plagues have been attributed to global
warming. An increase in temperature can
result in a longer life cycle for diseases.
• Global warming can affect our future ability
to obtain food. As climates change, plants
and animals will change, leading to a
change in the eating patterns of humans.

So cute Polar Bears , however, the
greenhouse effect will be ... ...
They tremble with fear to guard their
home ... ...
Effects on sea level---Higher sea
level
Global warming may make the sea level become
higher. Warmer weather makes glaciers melt. Some
melting glaciers add more water to the ocean.
Warmer temperatures also make water expand.
When water expands in the ocean, it takes up more
space and the level of the sea rises.
A 2℃ increase in earth's average temperature is
expected to raise the sea level by about 50 cm. Sea
level is rising more rapidly , and will probably
continue to rise for several centuries.
More frequent happens of natural disasters
Frequent natural
disasters such as:
tropical storms,
hurricanes,drou
ght,floot.
Effect on human beings
• Some disease would become more
widespread.
• Global warming will seriously affect
agriculture.
So romantic penuins, but the greenhouse
effect will make them ... ...
action
Global warming is a global problem
requiring action from the entire
international community. Countries
from around the world are working
together to share technologies,
experiences, resources and talent to
lower net greenhouse gas emissions
and reduce the threat of global climate
change.
