Zoonoses in a changing world.
Who: Matt Milholland– Texas State University
What: Zoonotic pathogens are the dominant cause of novel and reemerging
infectious diseases. Prevention of these diseases requires surveillance of
prevalence in animal populations. Current research regarding many disease
dynamics usually follows outbreaks of disease in localized areas. My research
aims at understanding the mammalian assemblage components and
ecological factors influencing zoonotic disease prevalence, and developing a
means of preventative surveillance.
