Dr. Tess Barton joined the division of General Pediatrics as a Hospitalist on August 1, 2003. She obtained her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and pediatric training from 1997-‐2000 from Children's Medical Center of Dallas. She was a fellow in Pediatric Infectious Disease at UT Southwestern/Children's Medical Center from July 2000-‐June 2003. Her particular interests are pneumococcal infections, vaccine-‐preventable illnesses, and pediatric/adolescent HIV infection. Dr. Barton is associate professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and medical director of the ARMS Clinic, the pediatric HIV program at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. She has worked in global HIV medicine in partnership with the Waterberg Welfare Society in rural South Africa, and has done other global medical work primarily in Haiti.
