Present Perfect
Example (1)
We use the Present Perfect tense to
show the result of an action.
e.g. (a) . Paco está comiendo una garra de
pollo.
(b) Paco ha comido una garra de pollo.
2. Action that started in the past and still
continues in the present
Marisol y Jacques han estudiado español por 2 años y media.
(they continue studying Spanish)
Marisol y Jacques estudiaron espanol por dos anos.
(they stopped studying Spanish)
Example (2)
We cannot use the Present Perfect tense
with adverbs of time,
e.g. yesterday, two weeks ago.
 I have done my homework yesterday.

I did my homework yesterday.

The Present Perfect


In English we form the Present Perfect
tense by conjugating the verb “HAVE” and
adding the past participle of the verb
he has seen,
have you tried?
they haven’t eaten.
Ex:

We generally use the Spanish present
perfect in the same way we use its
English equivalent.

Ana no ha hecho su tarea todavía.



The Present Perfect

Certain verbs that have a double
vowel in the infinitive form [except
those with the double vowel ui –
(construir / huir)] require an accent
mark on the i in the past
participle.

Notice that we place no and
other negative words, object
pronouns, and reflexive
pronouns directly in front of the
