Direct object RULES:
 must follow an action verb.
 will answer what or whom? after the
action verb.
 will be a noun or pronoun.
 not every sentence has one.
 take out (prepositional phrases) to
help find the direct object.

Direct objects are never used with
linking verbs.
• Example-I am the teacher.=NO D.O.
• Change the verb=I teach grammar.
Teach what?
grammar=D.O.
There can be more than one direct
object in a sentence.
• Example-My mom made coffee and
tea last night.
• coffee and tea=D.O.
