Elements of Greek Mythology Greek Mythology Myths were originally handed down by word of mouth. To the Greeks, great storytelling was a very important part of their culture. Myths may have been written to explain a natural phenomena, such as why the sun rises, etc. They usually contain good and evil royalty, such as kings, princesses, etc. It is common for sons to be raised by someone other than their parents.
