Achievements so far, and future
•Fabrication of 1st generation experimental Si neuron transistor chip
(single neurons, extended floating gate, depletion type, shielding metals,
SiO2 Ta2O5)
•New package designed and realized
(flip chip bumping, large exposure of Si area, easy access microscope,
microprobes..)
•Recorded signals from stimulated neurons cultivated on chip
•Experimental verification of “Molecular amplifiers” based on
chromophores
•Improved neuron adhesion layer, next to polylysine
•Assessment and verification of chemical sensing principle by direct and
quantized measurements of ACh
•Second generation transistors designed, processing start end of December
(improved S/N, improved processing, multiple neurons, bi-directional…)
•Selection of improved surface biologization molecules and patterning
•Direct measurement of ACh on chip
•On chip stimulation and recording of neurons
Project funded by the Future and Emerging Technologies arm of the IST Programme
Conclusion
No major delays on deliverables
Interactiva’s tasks have been divided between partners
Expected successful completion of 3th year
if extension till December 2003, no show stopper yet
Second run and purchase of peptides, sacharides necessary
and possible after administrative problems are solved,
expected December 2002
Agreement from project officer obtained summer 2002
