• Volcanoes are in different parts of the
world. Some volcanoes are under the sea
and some are on land. They are generally
cone shape but they are sometimes other
shape as well. They are large and tiny.
• The name volcanoes come from a Roman
god called Vulcan.
What is a volcano
• A volcano is a hill or mountain formed by
material from the mantle (mantle means:
the layer of the earth between the crust
and the core) being forced through an
opening or vent in the Earth's crust.
Why do volcanoes erupt
• Volcanoes erupt when
the two plates under
the earth push
together equals an
eruption
• when the rock gets
hot an enough in a
volcano equals an
eruption as well.
