*What are the forces
that can change our
world?
What are landforms?
A landform is……..
Landforms
Landforms are the shapes of the land we see on
the surface of the Earth
Some of the changes of the surface start
below the first layer of Earths outer surface called the
crust.
Eruption of volcanoes and big shifts like earthquakes can
change the surface of Earth.
The Earth is constantly exposed to water, wind,
and ice.
Overtime landforms are changed by these forces of nature.
Some changes happen fast like a rockslide. Some
changes happen so slow that we not even notice them in
our lifetime.
Weathering
Weathering
• Weathering happens overtime. It is
a process.
• Weathering can break larger rocks into
smaller rocks. Small rocks can be broken
down further into soil and sand or tiny
products called sediments.
• The causes of weathering
are water, ice, wind, plants, heating and
cooling.
Erosion
Erosion
• Erosion is the movement of weathered
rocks and soil.
• Pieces of Earth’s crust are picked up and
carried away.
• Agents of erosion are wind,
flowing water, waves, and gravity.
Deposition
Deposition
• Deposition is the dropping off,
depositing of eroding rocks.
• Deposition slowly builds up the
surface and changes Earth daily.
