VOLCANOES
What is A Volcano?
~An opening in the earth's crust through
which molten lava, ash, and gases are
ejected.
~Magma : Molten rock under the Earth’s
crust.
~Magma breaks through a weak spot in
the crust forming a volcanic eruption.
~ Molten rock flowing from the ground is
called lava.
What is A Volcano?
~Clouds of poisonous gas, ash and dust
rise into the air.
-The hole through which they come is the
volcano.
~ They build up into a cone-shaped
mountain with a crater at the top.
~ Cone: pointed shape with a round base.
~Crater : a large hole shaped like a bowl.
Flowing lava
destroys
everything in its
path. Gas ,ash
and dust kill
plants and
animals all
around a volcano.
