• Discoloured, smelly water
• Water turns poisonous
when this water reaches a
storm drain or river.
Prevention:
• Store chemicals properly in
well-ventilated area
• Use chemicals that break
down or decay naturally
more quickly.
• Don’t mix different waste
chemicals
• Find out what the health
risks are.

chemical spills or soap/ detergent can
cause foam in the drain, river or
stream.
• Soapy foam is usually bright white with
a soapy, fishy smell.
Problems caused:
• Will contaminate the water system.

• Will cause harm to the fish and ecosystem.
Prevention:
• Maintain septic tanks
• Wash cars or things on a grassy area
• Throw soapy water into the proper
places.
