THE BASICS..
The Technology
• Electro Chemical Activation (ECA) is the process used to
generate liquid biocides known as Electrolyzed Fluid (Elixir)
– Elixir is non-toxic, pH neutral and has an
extended shelf life.
• “Electrolyzed Fluid” – is water that has had an electric
current passed through it, thereby generating a number of
oxidized species. This is an electrochemical (or oxidationreduction) process. Specifically, it is an electrolysis process.

Elixir is generated by ElectroChemical Activation of a dilute NaCI (brine) solution
passing through an electrolytic cell.
ECA technology utilizes Electrolytic Cells where the anode chamber is separated
by an unidirectional permeable membrane from the cathode chamber. The
Electrolytic Cell allows migration of ions through the membranes and separation
of such ions and prevention of production of high levels of Hypochlorous Acid.
The ECA electrolysis process is one in which positive and negative electrodes are
submerged in a solution containing positive and negative ions.
Positive ions (cations) are drawn towards the negative electrode, where they
receive electrons from the electron-rich cathode and neutral atoms or molecules
are formed.
At the anode (positive electrode) negative ions (anions) are attracted, which give
up their additional electrons to the electron-depleted anode.

The Properties of Elixir
pH neutral, Non-hazardous, non-toxic, non-irritant, non-odorous,
non-corrosive
Completely safe for human contact – mimics immune systems natural
defenses to kill infectious pathogens
The Elixir will destroy all forms of micro-organisms – even those that
are normally extremely difficult to kill and have high levels of
resistance to chemical attack – such as pathogenic bacteria including
methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium
difficile (C.Diff), cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia , protozoa,
spoors such as anthrax and Legionella, viruses such as avian flu, and
fungi.

Relaxes after time to original constituents of dilute brine solution

Another commonly used methods revolved around Elixir is the ability
to kill spores of Bacillus subtilis, a bacterium known to be amongst the
most resilient to chlorine.

Biocidal Efficacy
Microbial efficacy is normally measured by a suspension test on
Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus epidermidis
Enterococcus hirae
Escherichia coli
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Bacillus subtilis
Based on all bactericidal, fungicidal and sporicidal testing performed it can be stated that
all the microbial testing requirements for Elixir have been met or exceeded. Contact times
to achieve complete destruction of cells and infectious capacity were significantly reduced
in comparison with other biocides. All tests done by FICCI Research and analysis centre
New Delhi.

FOOD PROCESSING AND BOTTLING
Elixir can be used for a wide variety of applications in food and drink processing and
preparation, including:
•Salad washing in chlorine free water to eliminate bacterial contamination and
prevent chemical taint
•Fruit and vegetable washing to eliminate yeasts and moulds and increase shelf life
•In dairies to clean and disinfect pipe work and provide sterile water supplies in
cheese and dairy product processing
•Fish and shell fish primary and secondary washing to clean and disinfect then use of
Elixir treated ice to pack and enhance preservation and extend shelf life without
chemical taint
•Bottle and flask pre-fill washing to sterilise containers
•Poultry processing and packaging to eliminate bacterial contamination and enhance
preservation and extend shelf life without chemical treatment
•Cleaning-in-place of process plant and equipment
•Cleaning and sterilisation of work surfaces and food contact areas
•Straw saccharification;
•Treatment of food raw materials at food plants, for example at beet processing factories with
the purpose of disinfection and shelf life prolongation;
•Disinfection of plant raw materials – salad, greens, vegetables, fruits and its shelf life
prolongation;
•Disinfection of berries and fruits and its shelf life prolongation;
•Disinfection of carcasses of cattle and birds in slaughtering rooms and meat-processing
plants;
•Disinfection of fish and seafoods at efficacy against all pathogenic microorganisms including
listeria;
• At fishing boat for shelf life prolongation of fish and seafoods;
•Getting of ecologically pure inverted glucose-fructose syrup for confectionary industry and
beverage foods industry;
•Disinfection of beet slices at sucrose extraction process;
•Getting of hydrolyzed starch, different types of starch syrup and glucose;
•Regeneration of oxidized fat;
•Reduction of milk acidity, reduction of acidity from 30 and more Terner degree till the norm
of freshly dried milk;
•Getting of diffusion juice from sugar-beet and sugar-cane;
