detection of Inflammatory
Pain, Vascular Imaging and
Breast Cancer detection.

Thermo scan
Introduction

3)
Thermo scan is a noninvasive diagnostic technique that allows the examiner to
visualise and quantify changes in skin surface temperature.
Thermo scan clinical value is in its high sensitivity to pathology in the vascular,
muscular, neural and skeletal systems and as such can contribute to the
pathogenesis and diagnosis made by the clinician.
Thermo scan is a device that convert infrared radiation emitted from the skin
surface into electrical impulses that are visualised in colour on a monitor. This
visual image graphically maps the body temperature and is referred to as a
thermogram. The spectrum of colours indicate an increase or decrease in the
amount of infrared radiation being emitted from the body surface. Since there is
a high degree of thermal symmetry in the normal body, subtle abnormal
temperature asymmetry's can be easily identified.

Clinical Implications
 Early diagnosis of conditions like cancers
 Diagnosing and Imaging pain
 Diagnosing abnormal physiological processes
due to diseases and injuries.

Diabetic foot care
• Diabetic foot problem is
the most common
reason for patient
admissions to hospital
worldwide.
• Diabetic foot care is the
most vital factor blood
glucose control

With the help of Thermo scan of a Lesion or
Wound we can easily find the stage of wound
healing
Stage 1: Inflammatory Phase
Stage 2: Proliferative Phase
Stage 3: Epithelisation Phase
Stage 4: Remodeling

Statistics of CRPS patients response to
symapthectomy
• 49 (98%) out of the diagnosed 50 patients had
significant decline in recurrent pains after CRPS
treatment post thermographic diagnosis.

Breast Cancer
14
Statistics
• In our study of 100 cases with breast lumps,
where pathological biopsy have been
performed.
• 72 of then were confirmed to have cancer and
among the 72, 69 were identified by
thermoscan as having cancer hotspots above
1.5 degree centigrade yielding 96% sensitivity.
