Lesson 6.3: Isosceles Triangles
Isosceles Triangle
two sides are congruent
Base Angle Theorem
If two sides of a triangle are congruent, then the angles opposite to them are congruent.
Converse: If two angles of a triangle are congruent, then the sides opposite those angles are congruent.
1
Example
Is triangle ABC isosceles? If yes, name the congruent sides and angles.
A(2, 1)
B(2, 4)
Equilateral Triangles
C(5, 4)
have congruent sides and angles
each angle is 60
If this triangle is an equilateral triangle, find the value of each variable.
2
If the triangle is an isosceles triangle, find the value of each variable. Then find the lengths of each side.
