ABSTRACT
Aloe vera is a functional plant. All part of the plant has its benefit, not only curing
diseases but also for cosmetics. Aloe vera is used as raw material for producing
cosmetics because of its nutrition content that is polysaccharide which works with the
essential amino acids and protease enzyme, with the result that it can replace the
damage cells and repair the skin condition. One of the cosmetic form containing
Aloe vera is moisturizer with humectant addition because humectant is able to
absorb water from surrounding environment and to restrain the normal skin condition.
For those purposes, thus, a new formula of moisturizer cream has been made which
consists of the dry extract Aloe vera and addition of the various humectant
concentrations. By adding the humectant, it is expected that the physical stability,
acceptability and effectiveness of the form can be increased. The dry extract Aloe
vera is formulated in vanishing cream based with glycerine addition in different
concentrations. Then the examination of organoleptics, emulsion type, pH
measuring, spread power are done and the counting of AUC is done to know the
effectiveness of the form. There are 4 kind of formulas, each formula consists of
glycerine 0%, 3%, 5% and 7%. The in vitro method is used. All formula can give a
moisturizer effect but by adding glycerine the moisturizer effect is better. Each
formula shows a different physical stability and acceptability form. The formula
which consists of glycerine 5% gives the best physical stability, acceptability and
effectiveness form.
