Tablet is coated with water insoluble CAB coating
Laser drill drills uniformly sized holes through coating (~500m)
Water diffuses into tablet, swells polymer, which extrudes
through holes, bringing drug
Release rate is controlled by number, size, configuration of
holes

Number of holes constrained by surface area, strength of coating
