USER GUIDE TO THE MONNEX (BC) DRY
POWDER EXTINGUISHER

Monnex Dry Powder Applications:
Medium Specialist Flammable Liquid Fires


Particularly effective in fighting fire involving
Alcohols, Ketones & Esters which are more
difficult for conventional fire extinguishing agents
Small Gas Fires
DRY POWDER: use on Class B & C specialist fires - works by interfering with the chemical
reaction that occurs within the combustion zone.
Primary: medium flammable specialist liquids (Class B) Alcohols, Ketones & Esters as the
powder is based on Potassium Bicarbonate, which is Urea complex.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:
1. Before using the fire extinguisher, ensure you have selected the correct extinguisher for
the chemical fire that you intend to fight.
2. Ensure that you are positioned between the fire and a safe exit or escape route.
3. Pull out safety pin firmly (this will be held in by an anti tamper seal device).
4. Apply the powder in short rapid bursts across the flame front of and/or sweep up the flames –
always keeping out of the smoke & powder.
5. If the fire is not extinguished on completion of the extinguisher's contents then immediately by a
safe route from the building, closing all doors behind you.
SAFETY:

Always read the instructions before using any fire extinguisher;

Ensure you have the correct extinguisher for the fire you intend to fight;

Note: this type of extinguisher is only provide in laboratory areas where
Alcohols, Ketones & Esters are being used;
