There are four characteristics associated
with muscle tissue:

- Tissue can receive & respond to stimulation
Contractility
- Tissue can shorten & thicken
Extensibility
- Tissue can lengthen
Elasticity
- After contracting or lengthening, tissue
always wants to return to its resting state
