PRODUCT BRIEF U-OP Connector System Product Description: Cooper Power Systems' U-OP™ is a 600 A, deadfront connector system, designed for all 600 A URD applications. Employing the already proven T-OP II™ deadbreak connector, U-OP allows the operator to easily create a visible open and visible ground without moving the cable or connector. The mechanical assist incorporated into the removable "U-component," provides a visible open point quickly and safely, with minimal effort. Features/Benefits: Expedites safe cable isolation and grounding: Cables can be direct tested for de-energization and then grounded immediately after verification. The mechanical assist within the "U-component" further eliminates the hassle of stuck rubber interfaces . . . add a 600 A grounded standoff bushing and the apparatus can also be grounded – all in one single operation. Provides verification of visible break and ground, external to the apparatus: Once the grounding elbow is installed on the cable and the "U-component" is removed, an inadvertent energized operation is virtually impossible. No more relying on internal breakers or sight windows to verify an open point. Requires less effort to operate: The mechanical assist, along with the lighter weight of the U-component makes for easier operation. This means no moving of heavy, awkward cables and connectors on the end of a long shotgun stick. Bulletin 95043 4/97 Availability: Cooper Power Systems' U-OP Connector System requires no special tools and is available as an O.E.M. specified component on 600 A apparatus, or as a retrofit model that can be installed on existing units. Left or right handed, as well as vertical orientations are also available to fit many faceplate configurations. The U-OP can also be easily adapted for use in junction enclosures and underground vaults. Specifications: Voltage class: 15 and 25 kV Current rating: 600 A continuous Conforms to all provisions of IEEE 386-1995 MI/500
