
An electric network is
excited when there is an
answer, that means,
there are currents in its
electric branches and
voltage in its branch
points.
GENERATORS
A generator is a
device whose
function is excite
the electrical
circuits.
These devices can be classified in:
Voltage
generators
and
Current
generators
And they can be classified in

real

ideal
The real voltage generator

To study this device, it is equal to
an ideal voltage generator in serial
with a resistance.
In this type of
device, the
potential difference
in its terminals
depends on the
current that flows
through it.
In the practice these
generators can be built
but they can be
considered as an ideal
generator for many
purposes.
For example:

A battery

A common collector
transistor
The real current
generator

To study this device, it is equal to
an ideal current generator in
parallel with a resistance.
Example

A common base
transistor

This generator sets a
current through its
terminals that
depends on the
potential difference
existing between
them.
