Department of Economics Mission Statement The UNI Department of Economics is housed in a college of business in a mid­sized, comprehensive, state university with an emphasis on undergraduate instruction. Our mission is to prepare students to think analytically, learn independently, and apply economic concepts effectively in their professional and personal decision making. The Department prepares students to succeed in advanced study programs and business careers. We recruit and maintain research­active faculty who engage in high quality scholarship that is disseminated through influential journals, conferences, and other outlets. Our faculty members provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community. We value rigor, critical thinking, logic and reason, integrity and intellectual honesty, ethical and moral behavior, and freedom of thought and expression.
