New England Aster Aster novaeangliae
The New England aster is a
hairy-stemmed perennial
found in moist meadows and
thickets. Its leaves are lanceshaped with no teeth, and its
flowers are a deep violet color
with up to one hundred rays.
The New England aster was
used by the Cherokee,
Chippewa, Iroquois,
Meskwaki, and Potawatami
tribes to treat diarrhea and
fevers.
