The terminal velocity of a feather falling in
the air can be as small as 0.1 m s-1. Why is
it so small? Can you explain why a hammer
falls much faster than a feather in air?
The terminal velocity of a feather is small because
 it is light (i.e. gravitational force is small)
 it has a large surface area
(i.e. air resistance is large)
A hammer falls much faster ∵ it is much heavier
