2nd is any animated production in
the standard art style.

Shounen
This is the standard action with little deep
thought.
Sub genre of shounen include Mecha ,
fantasy action, and the standard sport
animation.
Suggested series are the big 3(Naruto,
Onepeice, and Bleach) along with popular
mecha like Gurren Lagaan or Gundum.
Shoujo
Shoujo is the standard “chick flick”
Most are slow to start but build to a climactic
arc that usually brings you to tears assuming
you have a soul.
Kannon 2006, Clannad, and Air. These are the
“trinity” of shoujo. As in arguably the best of
the genre.
Horror/gore
As you may guess these shows are horror or
gory.
These shows rely on suspense and crisp
animation to sell the plot.
With horror you are probably best of with
something like “Another” or “higarashi no
naku koro ni”. Regarding gore “elfin leid” or
“Hellsing” should suit your fancy.
Comedy
Comedy anime very rarely come as just
comedy for example shounen-comedy,
ecchi-comedy, or even shoujo-comedy.
The rare comedy that stands alone in genre
is the slice of life animation.
Regarding slice of life “Lucky star” is a
fantastic example.
Ecchi
There are ecchi elements in almost every
element of anime. This is known as
fanservice
Fanservice is where a character is put in a
proactive situation for little to no real
purpose but to see that character
“exposed”
A good example of Shounen ecchi would
be HOTD or Freezing.
Comedy ecchi would be Rosario+Vampire.

everyone whether you be a hardcore
gundum fan or a classic shoujo fan there is a
