In Virginia, we operate under the name Dominion Virginia Power. The Virginia service territory encompasses the northwestern, central, and eastern portions of the Commonwealth – approximately 65% of Virginia’s total land area. However, this area accounts for approximately 80% of Virginia’s population. Included in this area are the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC; the I-81 corridor between Lexington and Harrisonburg; Richmond, VA (state capital); and the Tidewater areas of Virginia Beach and Norfolk. In North Carolina, we operate under the name Dominion North Carolina Power. The North Carolina service territory extends from the I-95 corridor between Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount eastward to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Our service territory in both North Carolina and Virginia is not all encompassing in that certain areas are provided electricity by electric cooperatives or via municipal utilities. STATES SERVED: NC, VA GENERAL INFORMATION: Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers and transporters of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 28,200 megawatts of generation, 11,000 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage pipeline and 6,300 miles of electric transmission lines. Dominion operates the nation’s largest natural gas storage facility with 947 billion cubic feet of storage capacity and serves retail energy customers in 15 states.
