An allergy consult appointment does not guarantee skin testing will be done; Dr Siroty will
make a clinical decision the day of the appointment. Bee venom testing needs to be done
8 weeks post sting.
Why Skin Test:
Is used to assist the allergist in determining what may be causing allergic symptoms. Extracts of
common allergens (dust, pollens, mold, etc) are injected into the superficial layers of the skin. A
positive reaction resembles a mosquito bite in appearance and is usually itchy. A positive or
negative skin test must be correlated with the patient’s clinical history and physical findings
determine its relevance.
