Maxilla
The maxillae are the two maxilla bones forming the upper jaw and
palate of the mouth.
The two halves are fused at the intermaxillary suture to form the upper jaw.




Each half of the fused maxillae consists of:
The body of the maxilla
Four processes






The zygomatic process
The frontal process of maxilla
The alveolar process
The palatine process
Infraorbital foramen
The maxillary sinus
Palatine Bone


is situated at the back part of the nasal cavity between the maxilla and the
pterygoid process of the sphenoid bone.
It contributes to the walls of three cavities: the floor and lateral wall of the
nasal cavity, the roof of the mouth, and the floor of the orbit
It resembles the letter L & consists of:
 a horizontal plate
 a perpendicular plate
 three outstanding processes(the pyramidal process, the
orbital and sphenoidal process

Discs consist of:
an outer fibrous ring, the anulus fibrosus disci intervertebralis
which surrounds an inner gel-like center, the nucleus pulposus.
