WBC Outstanding Women 2015 LULING YANG Senior Staff Engineer Langan Engineering International experience makes this professional a national engineering resource Luling obtained her Bachelor of Engineering degree in Engineering Mechanics from Tianjin University in China, and graduated with her Doctor of Engineering degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. She is especially interested in geotechnical earthquake engineering and finite element modeling research and applications, and has gained knowledge and expertise through years of experience working on various types of engineering projects ranging from large infrastructure developments to commercial buildings. Luling is a member of the United States Universities Council on Geotechnical Education and Research. In recent years she has had a number of papers published at conferences and in journals. Luling serves as a reviewer for several civil engineering conferences and journals, sits on the editorial board for Journal of Civil engineering and Architecture, and is the Chief Editor for the International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research. Luling Yang is a senior staff engineer at Langan whose practice involves geotechnical consulting in support of projects located throughout the United States and around the world. Her knowledge of and expertise in earthquake engineering and finite element modeling makes her an especially valuable asset at Langan. Specifically, Yang has performed 3D finite element modeling for several complex projects, including the development of Ajyad Hotel and Hospital in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Representative experience includes the Sabic Main Building in KSA, the Bab Habshan energy production facility in Abu Dhabi, and Centre City Mall in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Outside of the office, Yang is actively involved in the academic world. She is a member of the United States Universities Council on Geotechnical Education and Research and has published technical papers for conferences and professional journals. Yang also serves as a reviewer for several civil engineering conferences and periodicals, including the Journal of Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering. She sits on the editorial board for the Journal of Civil Engineering and Architecture and is the Chief Editor for the International Journal of Applied Science and Engineering Research. 107
