NEW LIVE ENTERTAINMENT SERIES @ BERT’S EASTERN MARKET
Music and Literary Series Highlights Cultural Development in Eastern Market
DETROIT—Bert’s Entertainment Complex will host a new music and literary series every Wednesday evening
beginning April 22 through Fall. The Wednesdays LIVE @ Bert’s will showcase musical, literary and dramatic
acts with an “after-work affair” flair. Headliners include Detroit Music Awards winner and multi-year nominee
Tracy Kash, a flautist, vocalist, pianist, and composer; Angela Celeste May, vocalist and bandleader; Dwayne
Collins, a former Motown Guitarist and member of the Next Generation Funk Brothers; and Kahn Santori
Davison, noted Detroit-area photographer and author of the upcoming poetry collection BLAZE. Kahn will host
the “Kahn & Friends” segment with featured authors.
The Wednesdays LIVE @ Bert’s concept was developed by H. Buchanan, a Detroit native and owner of the
Detroit-based Aquarius Press. Now in its 16th year, the press has won critical acclaim and hosts national shows
such as LitFest. Buchanan is also co-Director of the Metro Detroit Performing Arts Center.
“Bert’s Eastern Market has been a Detroit gem for over 25 years,” said Buchanan. “Our hope is to provide
performers with a great home where they can share their talents and network. It’s a great fit considering the
rapid growth of Eastern Market as an arts and culture district.”
Wednesdays LIVE@Bert’s will begin with a kickoff party on April 22, 2015, with a two-part National Poetry
Month Celebration featuring guest poets. The following week will feature noted Detroit poet John Jeffire.
