In addition to co-writing the classic ‘60s pop song, “This Diamond Ring”, he was a sessionman on some of the most important records of mid-decade, including Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone”. Kooper was also a member of the Blues Project and Blood, Sweat & Tears. As a producer at Columbia, he signed the British invasion act the Zombies, and still later, discovered Lynyrd Skynyrd and produced their best work. Pinetop Perkins is one of the last great Mississippi bluesmen still performing. A blues pianist since 1926, he is widely regarded as one of the best ever. He’s best known for his 12 years as the pianist in the Muddy Waters Band. A true legend in the music world, Taj Mahal is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammywinner, world-class musical collaborator, and musicians’ advocate. Taj Mahal has been playing his own distinctive brand of music -- variously described as Afro-Caribbean blues, folk-world-blues, hulablues, folk-funk, and a host of other hyphenations -- for more than 40 years. Taj’s music reflects his global perspective, incorporating sounds from everywhere he has lived and traveled around the globe. Taj plays more than 20 instruments, including the National Steel and Dobro guitars. Texas native Floyd Dixon has been playing keyboards since the 1940s, and scored early hits in the ‘50s with “Telephone Blues” and “Hey Bartender” (later covered by the Blues Brothers). In 1997, Dixon won the W.C. Handy “Comeback Album of the Year” with “Wake Up and Live”. Tickets for the festival are $47.50 per day or $90 for both days before June 16th.
