For immediate release: October 18, 2012 Nancy Schnarr, 519.745.4711 x287 [email protected] The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony goes Back to the Future for An Evening of Blockbusters The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony takes its cue from some of the world’s best-known films for Sci-Fi Fantasy: An Evening of Blockbusters on Friday, November 2 and Saturday, November 3 at 8 pm at the Centre In The Square. Led by guest conductor Victor Vanacore, the concert will feature music from science fiction and fantasy movies, including E.T., Ghostbusters, Star Trek, Avatar, and Back to the Future. This concert also features the local talents of Sam’s Steps Dance Centre and Cameron Heights Collegiate Choir. Victor Vanacore is a Grammy-Award winning conductor, pianist, composer and arranger. He is originally from New Haven, CT and began his music studios on the piano at age six. Vanacore has worked with orchestras throughout the United States, Canada and abroad. He has also worked with well-known vocalists, including musical legend Ray Charles, with whom he had a close friendship after meeting him in 1990 until his passing in 2004. Vanacore’s has also worked closely with Jackson Five, Johnny Mathis and Barry Manilow. “For many of us, our first exposure to classical music was through the films we watched growing up,” said Vanacore. “Concerts like this remind us how much music in film affects our experience of it.” SCI-FI FANTASY: AN EVENING OF BLOCKBUSTERS runs November 2 and 3, 2012 at 8pm at the Centre In the Square, 101 Queen St. N. in Kitchener.
