Trio Nocturno
Trio Nocturno is a young string trio based in Amsterdam, formed by passionate string
players specializing in historical approach using period instruments and gut strings.
Their core repertoire presently consists of Boccherini’s trio
works for two violins and cello, works (Op.1, 4, 7, 34 and 54)
had heretofore hardly been played or recorded compared
to the composer's other output ranging from Vienna, Paris
to Madrid.
Apart from exploring Boccherini's development, Trio
Nocturno ranges in its repertoire from the early XVII till late
XVIII century, from the origin of string consort setting such
as Matthew Locke, Henry Purcell, Golden-Age of Italian trio
such as Marini, Uccelini, until Galant and pre-Classical style
such as Telemann, C.P.E.Bach and Haydn.
Each of the trio's members are studying in Conservatorium van Amsterdam, emphasizing
historical performance studies with Sophie Gent, Viola de Hoog. They also receive frequent
advice and lessons from Anna Bijlsma who is the specialist for Boccherini repertoire and
most eminent string player.
Alba Encinas (Violin)
Alba Encinas was born in Onda, Spain. After her preliminary studies in Onda and Castellón,
She started her bachelor on modern violin in Salamanca with Isabel Vilá and Hector Sánchez.
In 2009 she moved to ESMUC in Barcelona where she received lessons from Igor Malinovsky,
Quartet Casals, Emilio Moreno and Lorenzo Coppola and obtained bachelor diploma in
2012.
She has joined several orchestras such as Jove Orquestra de Catalunya and Jove Orquestra
Simfònica de Castelló with conductors like Lutz Kohler, Pablo González and Jaime Martin.
Also on historical performance with Jeune Orchestre Atlantique and Sweelinck Barokorkest
with conductors such as Louis Langreé, David Stern, Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Coin,
Jos van Immersel, Patrick Cohen and Alessandro Moccia.
Currently, she is studying baroque violin in Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Sophie
Gent and chamber music from Alfredo Bernardini, Viola de Hoog, Friedemann Immer and
Maggie Urquhart.
Asuka Sumi (Violin)
Asuka Sumi was born in Tokyo and received her first education on violin from her parents.
She thereafter changed her main subject to specialize on baroque violin, completing her
Bachelor and Master’s degrees on that specialty at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts
and Music under the guidance of Natsumi Wakamatsu. She is currently taking intensive
studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with teachers Lucy van Dael and Sophie Gent.
She also took studies in chamber music with Masaaki Suzuki, Alfredo Bernardini and
Walther van Hauwe.
Besides her active participation in many orchestras such as Académie Baroque Europeénne
d’Ambronay 2010 and Academia Montis Regalis, she is playing a significant role in the
formation and performance of young chamber music groups such as Ensemble Odyssee, Il
Tempo dell'Affetto and Ensemble Seconda Pratica. Asuka works also as a freelancer musician,
performing broadly in festivals and cities around Europe and Asia such as Brussels,
Innsbruck, Basel, Torino and Seoul. /www.asukasumi.com/
Maximiliano Segura Sanchez (Violoncello)
Maximiliano Segura Sánchez started his musical studies from nine years old in Málaga. He
was member of the Youth Andalusian Orchestra until 2006 and member of the Youth
National Orchestra of Spain till 2009. In 2008, he did his final exam of the superior degree
and got distinction mark. Therafter, he started his bachelor study in Conservatorium van
Amsterdam with Maarten Mostert and got degree on 2012. Since September 2012, he
started the master degree both on modern cello with Maarten Mostert and baroque cello
with Viola de Hoog. He participated in several masterclasses by great cello players such as
Dmitry Ferschtman, Anner Bijlsma, Anssi Kartunen, Giovanni Sollima and Michel Strauss.
